With "We Have Dark Friends," Kuma returns to Frosti with a selection of untraceable transmissions.

The initial improvisations the material is based around were recorded in the Spring of 2022 when Kuma could not leave the house, having tested positive for Covid. In the blurry wee hours and amongst the transcendent states that only come with fever and illness, fell twelve passages spawned from somewhere else. This is how you document being robbed of time. These are truly lost tapes, because if you can barely remember making the initial noises, was it you in the studio to begin with?

Initial snatches of field recordings serve as the rhythmic pulse of each song. The sounds then wrapped in bucolic layers of woodwinds, guitar, synth, and fog, as if there was a drone orchestra in the distance weaving melancholy passages of luminous darkness. Seasick synths buffer opiated sequences as the e-bow and arrow strikes its target.

There's a light in the distance in the heart of the forest, move closer and see.
